A Magyar Olvasástársaság kilencedik alkalommal rendezi meg A népmese napját szeptember 26–28-án. Mint ismert, a kezdeményezés annak idején a százhalombattai könyvtárból indult.
A IX. Országos népmese-konferencia idén a szlovákiai Füleken lesz, társszervező a Füleki Vármúzeum, a dunaszerdahelyi Szlovákiai Magyar Művelődési Intézet, támogató a Nemzeti Kulturális Alap. Szeptember 26-án este mesekocsmával indul a program.
A szeptember 27-én "Elindult hát világgá" címmel megrendezésre kerülő szakmai konferencia fő témája a mesében és a mese által megtett utak sokszínűsége lesz. A nap az Ipolyi Arnold Szlovákiai Magyar Népmesemondó Verseny arany okleveles mesemondóinak gálájával zárul.
Szeptember 28-án gyakorlat, játék, vita és beszélgetés lesz, mesemondói és szimbólumterápiás mesepedagógiai szakmai műhelyek részvételével. Az egyik előadó, egyben a konferencia szervezője a százhalombattai HBVK könyvtárosa, Kovács Marianna. A program zárása a kétnyelvű mesemondás. A három nap alatt megjelennek a hagyományos mesemondók mellett a szerteágazó "mese-szakma" szakértői, az olvasáskutatás, a pszichológia, a drámapedagógia, a mesegyűjtés, az egyéniségkutatás, a meseszöveg-ápolás és a mesedramatizálás területéről.
A népmese napja mozgalom országhatárokon átívelően fogja össze azokat, akik a népmesét Benedek Elek születésnapján megünneplik.
